Gifts from North Mankato
North Mankato sits across the river from Mankato in south-central Minnesota, and a lot of the people who call it home have roots that go back generations. Some grew up here and came back after college, some moved in for a job at the hospital or the schools, and some still drive up for the weekend from the Twin Cities. A North Mankato shirt is how they say where they're from when a stranger asks, and it's a good way to mark a return home or a fresh start in town. Add a street, a school year or a family name on the second line if it fits, so the shirt is about their particular corner of the town and not just the place on a map. For a mug, the morning coffee is a daily reminder of home, which suits someone who moved away and misses it. A hoodie works well for the Minnesota winter, when a warm, local layer does the job better than a generic one.
