Gifts from Ossining
Ossining is a village on the Hudson in Westchester County, New York, known for its riverfront and for the Sing Sing history that many locals grew up hearing about. People who live there, or who grew up there and moved away, tend to feel a strong attachment to the place, and a shirt that says Ossining is how they show it at a school reunion, a Hudson Valley weekend or a family visit. A village is a close-knit place, so a shirt with a neighborhood or a street name under the town name, or a graduation year on a hoodie for a local high school grad, adds the personal touch. For the one who moved to the city or across the country, a mug with Ossining on it is a small daily reminder of home. Because the village is small, the designs here are most meaningful when they carry something only a local would recognize, like the year they left or the year they came back.
