Gifts from Polk City
Polk City is a small town in Polk County, Iowa, and most people who live there know everybody at the Fourth of July parade. A shirt with the town name on it is how someone tells you where they're from without a long explanation. It's a strong gift for a homesick former resident, a graduate heading off to college, or someone who keeps the town close even after moving away. Small-town pride tends to show up in everyday things: the coffee mug on the porch, the hoodie for a cold soccer game, the tee for a family reunion back home. Add a second line with a street, a class year, or the name of the school or team they cheer for, and the shirt starts to feel like theirs instead of a generic place shirt. For a baby, the onesie is a sweet way to mark where the family belongs before the child knows any of it.
