Gifts from Pompeys Pillar
Pompeys Pillar is a sandstone column rising about 150 feet above the Yellowstone River in Montana, a landmark that's stood there for a very long time and that Lewis and Clark carved their names into in 1806. That history is what makes a gift for someone from there, or someone who loves that stretch of Montana, land. A tee or hoodie with the name on it is a conversation starter at a Billings coffee shop or a trailhead, and for a local it's a way to say they're proud of where they're from. If the person has moved away, a mug with the pillar's name is the kind of thing that sits by the coffee maker and gets a second look every morning. Add a second line for the town they grew up in or the year they moved, and the design stops being a souvenir and becomes theirs.
