Picking a gift for a post doctoral researcher
A postdoc is usually someone who has finished a PhD and is now working on a fixed-term research position, often on grant money, moving between labs or universities while they chase the next permanent job. Their days can be a mix of experiments that fail for no clear reason, late nights before a deadline, writing and rewriting papers, and mentoring students a few years behind them. What tends to land well is a gift that acknowledges that stage of the career without implying the hard part is over. A tee or hoodie with post doctoral researcher on it says they've made it through the doctorate and are still in the thick of it. Add their field, such as neuroscience, chemistry or genomics, on the second line, and the shirt becomes specific to their work. A mug suits the lab bench, where coffee is basically a research tool. If you know the lab or the project's nickname, that's a good detail to add too.
Post Doctoral Researcher gift questions
Can I add their field or research area to the shirt?
Yes. Most designs have a second line, so you can type their discipline, lab or specialty there and check the spacing in the live preview before you order.
Is there a credential I should put on it?
If they've finished their PhD, you can say so on the second line, for example PhD in the field they studied. Postdocs don't always have a standard credential, so keep it to what they actually hold.
Can I order shirts for everyone in a research group?
Yes. Use the Team Shop: choose one design, paste the names in your group, and pick a size for each person so everyone gets their own shirt.
What sizes do the post doctoral researcher shirts come in?
Adult tees come in S to 3XL. Hoodies, kids tees and onesies list their own sizes on each product page.
How long does a post doctoral researcher gift take to arrive?
Each order is printed after you place it, in 2 to 4 business days, then ships by ground in 3 to 5 business days. The product page shows the delivery window for today's orders.
What if the print has a mistake?
If we print something different from the preview you approved, or it arrives damaged, we reprint it free.
Post Doctoral Researcher gift ideas
- A tee with their fieldPut post doctoral researcher on the front and their discipline underneath, so it reads as theirs and not a generic lab shirt.
- A mug for the lab benchAn 11oz mug gives them something to hold through long experiments and early-morning data checks.
- A hoodie for the cold labLabs and cold rooms run chilly, so a hoodie with their title earns a spot on the chair for the rest of the year.
- A kids tee for a family jokeIf a postdoc has a child, a matching kids tee with their title makes a fun photo and a running joke at home.
