Picking a gift for a postdoctoral research fellow
A postdoctoral research fellow has already survived years of graduate school and is now in the stretch where the work is intense, the pay is modest, and the next job is always a few grant cycles away. They spend long days at the bench or the computer, reading papers late, rerunning experiments and writing proposals that often get turned down. What lands well with them is something that acknowledges that grind without being sappy. A tee for the lab, a hoodie for the cold building at odd hours, or a mug for the coffee that fuels the late experiments. You can make it theirs by adding their field on a second line, such as genomics, neuroscience or materials, or their institution's department name, so it reads as their own rather than a generic academic shirt. If you're buying for a whole lab, one design with each person's name in the Team Shop makes a better group gift than another round of donuts.
Postdoctoral Research Fellow gift questions
Can I add a field of research or a lab name to the shirt?
Yes. Many designs have a second line. Type the field, lab or department there and the preview updates so you can check the spacing before you order.
Is there a special day for postdocs?
Postdoc appreciation is recognized in some institutions, but dates vary by school, so a good gift works any time of year. A tee or mug is useful during a long project or around a paper acceptance.
Can I order shirts for my whole lab?
Yes. Use the Team Shop: choose one design, paste a list of names, and pick a size for each person. Each shirt prints with its own name.
What sizes do the postdoctoral research fellow shirts come in?
Adult tees come in S to 3XL. Hoodies, kids tees and onesies list their own sizes on each product page.
How long does a postdoctoral research fellow gift take to arrive?
Each order is printed after you place it, in 2 to 4 business days, then ships by ground in 3 to 5 business days. The product page shows the delivery window for today's orders.
What if the print has a mistake?
If we print something different from the preview you approved, or it arrives damaged, we reprint it free.
