Picking a gift for a research physicist
Research physicists spend a lot of their time on problems that take years to pay off, with long stretches of equations, lab notebooks and late-night data runs in between. A gift that acknowledges the work without turning into a joke about it usually lands best. A soft tee for the lab or the commute, a hoodie for cold observatories and conference-room air conditioning, or a mug for the coffee that fuels the analysis all do the job. What makes it theirs is the detail: add their specialty or field, such as condensed matter, quantum optics or particle theory, on a second line, or put the institution or lab name there if they're comfortable sharing it. A name on the shirt or mug also helps when a shared lab is full of identical coffee cups. If you're buying for a whole research group, the Team Shop lets you pick one design and paste everyone's names, so each person gets a shirt with their own name on it.
Research Physicist gift questions
Can I add a specialty to a research physicist shirt?
Yes. Many designs have a second line, so you can type in a field such as astrophysics, condensed matter or quantum optics. The preview updates so you can check how it looks before you order.
Can I put a lab or university name on it?
Yes, if the recipient is comfortable with it. Type the lab or institution into the second line. Choose a short name so it fits neatly on the design.
What's a good gift for a physicist who just earned a PhD or got a new position?
A hoodie or mug with their name and the year is a nice way to mark the milestone. It's something they can keep in the lab long after the celebration.
Can I order shirts for my whole research group?
Yes. Use the Team Shop: choose one design, paste a list of names, and pick a size for each person. Each shirt prints with its own name.
What sizes do the research physicist shirts come in?
Adult tees come in S to 3XL. Hoodies, kids tees and onesies list their own sizes on each product page.
How long does a research physicist gift take to arrive?
Each order is printed after you place it, in 2 to 4 business days, then ships by ground in 3 to 5 business days. The product page shows the delivery window for today's orders.
What if the print has a mistake?
If we print something different from the preview you approved, or it arrives damaged, we reprint it free.
