Picking a gift for a residence hall director
A residence hall director usually lives in or next to the building they run, which means they're on call for lockouts, roommate disputes, fire alarms at 2 a.m. and the occasional stuck elevator. Most of the job happens in the gaps between official duties: a quick chat in the lobby, a late check-in after a crisis, a stack of incident reports waiting on a desk. A gift that acknowledges that unglamorous work tends to land best. A hoodie is useful during the cold months of overnight rounds, and a mug fits the hall office where coffee is the real fuel. Put RHD or Residence Life on a second line and the piece becomes clearly theirs, not a generic staff shirt. Many directors also start the role straight out of graduate school, so a gift can mark that milestone as well. If you're buying for a whole residence life team, the Team Shop lets you order one design with each person's name on their own shirt.
