Gifts from Sandia
Sandia is a name most people only know from a mountain range, a national lab, or a watermelon, so the people who really live there tend to be proud of the connection. A Sandia shirt works for someone who grew up in the area and misses the desert light, the Sandia Peak tram, and the cool evenings after a hot day. It also suits the person who moved away and still calls it home. Because the word is short and distinct, a Sandia design reads clearly on a tee, a hoodie, or a mug without much else added. If you want it to feel personal, put a second line under the word: a street, a school class, a year they moved there, or a nickname the family uses. That small detail turns a place name into something only the recipient would recognize.
