Gifts from Shishmaref
Shishmaref is a small Inupiat community on Sarichef Island off the northwest coast of Alaska, and people who grew up there often carry that place with them wherever they go. A shirt with the town's name is a way for someone who has moved away to say where they're from, and for family back home to show they're still part of it. Because the town is small and its name isn't common on merchandise, a Shishmaref design stands out in a way a bigger city's name wouldn't. You can add a second line for a graduation year, a family name or the year they left, which makes the shirt theirs rather than a generic town tee. Hoodies suit the colder months and the long trips home, and a mug works for the kitchen table of someone who misses the place.
Shishmaref gift questions
Can I add a family name or year to a Shishmaref design?
Many designs have a second line for a name, a year or a place. Open the design and type it in, and the preview will update so you can check it before ordering.
Are there Shishmaref designs for kids?
Yes. Kids t-shirts and dark kids t-shirts are available for this town, and baby onesies are too. Use the product filter to see which designs are offered in each.
Is Shishmaref a good gift for someone who moved away?
It can be. A town shirt or mug tells them you remember where they came from, and adding the year they left or a family name makes it more personal.
What sizes do the shishmaref shirts come in?
Adult tees come in S to 3XL. Hoodies, kids tees and onesies list their own sizes on each product page.
How long does a Shishmaref gift take to arrive?
Each order is printed after you place it, in 2 to 4 business days, then ships by ground in 3 to 5 business days. The product page shows the delivery window for today's orders.
What if the print has a mistake?
If we print something different from the preview you approved, or it arrives damaged, we reprint it free.
