Picking a gift for a switchboard operator
A switchboard operator is the person who connected calls before automatic dialing made the job mostly a memory, and the people who did it still talk about the rhythm of plugs, cords and the voice that said, number please. Many of them worked long shifts at a desk, which makes a comfortable tee or hoodie a practical gift, and a mug they can take to the kitchen after retirement is a small way of saying their work counted. Switchboard operators were often in the background of the story, so a gift with their title on it puts them front and center. Add a line with their name, the company they worked for or the years they served, and the shirt becomes a record of a career rather than a generic occupation design. If you're buying for a former colleague or a retirement party, the Team Shop lets you order one design with each person's name for a group of operators who worked together.
Switchboard Operator gift questions
Can I add the company name or years of service?
Yes. Many designs have a second line for a name, a year or a place. Type it in and the preview will update so you can check the spacing.
Is there a design for a retired switchboard operator?
Designs are based on the job title. You can add retired, a year or a name to any design to make it fit their retirement.
What's a good gift for someone who worked as a switchboard operator?
A mug or tee with their title and name is a simple choice. Many people who did this work are proud of it, so a personal design tends to land well.

Adult tees come in S to 3XL. Hoodies, kids tees and onesies list their own sizes on each product page.
How long does a switchboard operator gift take to arrive?
Each order is printed after you place it, in 2 to 4 business days, then ships by ground in 3 to 5 business days. The product page shows the delivery window for today's orders.
