Gifts from Tarkio
Tarkio is a small town in northwest Missouri, the kind of place where people know each other and their families go back generations. Someone who grew up there, or who still calls it home, will likely want a shirt that says so without apology. A small-town name on a tee or hoodie is how they tell people where they're from, whether they're at a college campus, a job in the city or a reunion back home. The town is small enough that a shirt with its name is a conversation starter, the kind that leads to someone saying they've heard of it, or that they're related to somebody who lived there. For a former resident who moved away, a Tarkio mug is a daily reminder of the place they left, and for someone still there, a hoodie is a practical way to keep warm at the football game or the county fair. Add a graduation year or a family name on the second line and the shirt becomes theirs.
