Gifts from Van Meter
Van Meter is a small Iowa town, and most people who carry the name are either from there or have a grandparent who was. A Van Meter shirt is how someone wears their hometown into a bigger city, to a reunion, or onto a campus that's a long drive from the cornfields. Because the town is small, the name itself does most of the work: a plain tee that says Van Meter reads as a quiet point of pride rather than a souvenir. For a graduate heading off to college or a job in another state, a hoodie with the name and their graduation year feels like a piece of home they can take along. For a parent or grandparent who still lives there, a mug is the everyday version, something to hold on a cold morning while the town goes about its business. Add a second line with the year they were born, a street, or a class, and the shirt becomes theirs.
