Gifts from Vanlue
Vanlue is a small village in Hancock County, Ohio, and a name like that tends to mean something specific to the people who grew up there or moved away from it. A shirt with the village name on it is a way to claim a place that doesn't show up on most maps. For someone who left for college or a job in a bigger city, it's a conversation starter that comes with a story. For someone who never left, it's a small point of local pride, the kind of thing you wear to a county fair or a homecoming. Because the name is distinctive, the design itself does most of the work, so a simple shirt or hoodie with the village name reads as intentional. Many designs have a second line, which works well for a graduation year, a family name or the street they grew up on. A mug is a good pick for the transplant's kitchen, where a reminder of home gets used every morning.
