About this chinook gift
Chinook means a few different things, and the person you're shopping for probably has one in mind. It's a rare sled dog breed that came out of New Hampshire, and Chinook owners tend to be devoted to a dog most people have never met. It's also a Pacific Northwest salmon, the kind anglers talk about in a lowered voice, and the name of the warm winter wind that rolls off the Rockies and a few towns in Alberta and Montana. Start with the person: a dog owner, a fisherman, someone with roots on the plains. Then personalize it. For a dog person, put the dog's name on the second line, or the kennel name, or the year the puppy came home. For an angler, add the river or the season. Because Chinook is a word people rarely see in print, a shirt or mug with it on there gets noticed and prompts the question you're hoping for.
