Gila Bend Athletic Dept. mug

About this gila bend gift

Gila Bend is a small desert town in southwestern Arizona, out along Interstate 8 between Phoenix and Yuma, where the Gila River once ran through the valley. People who grew up there, or who spent years working or raising kids in a town that size, tend to carry it with them in a way city people don't. A shirt with the town name is how they say where they're from when someone asks, and it's a good fit for anyone who left and misses the quiet, the wide sky and the sense that everyone knows your truck. Since the town is small, a second line can do a lot of work: a graduation year from the local school, a family name, or the year they moved away. A mug suits the one who now lives in a bigger place and wants a reminder each morning. Because it's a little out of the way, a Gila Bend shirt is also a good gift for someone who likes to tell people about the places that don't show up on a map.
