About this iron mountain gift
Iron Mountain is a small place, and that's exactly why people who grew up there hold onto it. A shirt with the name on it is how they explain where they're from without a long story, whether that's to a coworker in another state or to a kid who keeps asking. Locals tend to wear it for the same reasons people wear any hometown gear: to show up for a reunion, to mark a return visit, or just because it's the one place they always mean when someone asks where they're from. Add a line underneath, like a street, a school year or a family name, and the shirt becomes about their particular Iron Mountain rather than the place in general. For the person who left years ago and still says they're from there, a mug or hoodie does the job of a postcard, only it gets used every day.
