About this montauk gift
Montauk is a village at the far tip of Long Island, a fishing town that gets quiet and cold in winter and fills up with surfers, boaters and summer people from May through September. Someone with a Montauk connection might have spent childhood summers at the beach, run a bait shop, surfed Ditch Plains before work, or just loved the lighthouse and the long drive out past the last exit. A shirt or mug with Montauk on it is a way of saying that stretch of sand is theirs. For a summer regular, a light tee for the beach works well. For someone who loves the place in the off-season, a hoodie for the chilly walk out to Montauk Point makes more sense. You can add a second line with a year, a street, or a nickname the crew used, which turns a town souvenir into something personal.
