About this oakland gift
Oakland people carry the city with them, whether they grew up in the flatlands, rode BART in every morning, or moved away and still root for the A's from three time zones over. A shirt that says Oakland is how they claim it on game day, at a family reunion, or on the walk to the farmers market on a Saturday. Because the city is a set of neighborhoods, a second line with the part of town they're from, like Fruitvale, Rockridge or Temescal, means far more than a generic souvenir. Oakland also has a lot of young people building lives there, so a hoodie is a good fit for a new apartment or a first winter of cold mornings. For the one who left, an 11 oz mug with the city name is a daily reminder of home. Pick the product and the neighborhood, and the gift starts to sound like them.
