About this okabena gift
Okabena is a neighborhood in Minneapolis, and the people who grew up there or still call it home tend to hold onto that name tightly. A shirt with Okabena on it is a way to say where you're from without a long explanation, whether that's for a reunion of old neighbors, a move to a new city, or a homecoming visit. Because it's a neighborhood name rather than a famous landmark, a gift with it feels personal in a way generic city merch never does. You can make it theirs with a second line for the years they lived there, a street, or the school they went to. A hoodie suits the Minnesota winter, a mug suits the kitchen table, and a tee works for the summer days when the whole neighborhood seems to be outside. The shirt is simple, but the detail you add is what makes it their Okabena.
