About this opelousas gift
Opelousas is a small city in St. Landry Parish in south-central Louisiana, and the people who call it home tend to hold on to it hard, whether they never left or moved away for work. A shirt with the city name is how a former resident wears their roots to a family reunion, a Mardi Gras weekend or a new job in another state. Because the city is small and its name is less familiar elsewhere, a Opelousas gift often starts a conversation, and the person wearing it gets to explain where they're from. For someone who grew up there, a hoodie for cool evenings or a mug for the morning coffee keeps a little of home close. Think about how they'd say it: many people shorten it and are proud of the full name anyway. Add a year, a family name or a high school class to make the piece their own.
