About this salix gift
Salix is a name you're unlikely to know from a map, so this page works a little differently from the big-city ones. Most of what the word refers to is local, which means the person who'd receive a Salix shirt or mug is probably someone who knows the place well, or someone who grew up hearing it. A shirt with the name on it is a way to say where they're from without a long explanation. Because the word is less familiar to most people, the second line matters more: a neighborhood, a street, a year they moved there, or a nickname the town uses can turn a plain city name into a personal one. If you're not sure how the place is spelled or said locally, ask the recipient before you order, since a small detail like that is exactly what they'll notice.
