About this sumas gift
Sumas is a small city in Whatcom County, right up against the Canadian border in northwest Washington, and the people who call it home tend to feel a strong connection to the place. A Sumas shirt is a way to claim it, whether they grew up there, moved there for work, or just pass through on the way to the border crossing. Small towns make good gifts because the things that say them are local and personal, so a design with the city name and a second line for a year, a street, or a family name will mean more than a generic souvenir. For someone who has left and misses home, a mug or hoodie with Sumas on it is an easy way to bring a little of the place with them. Because Sumas is a smaller town, not every local detail is widely shared, so the surest way to make a gift land is to add the one thing that's theirs, like a graduation year or a neighborhood nickname only the locals would catch.
