About this chouteau gift
Chouteau is one of those names that tells you a story before you say anything else. It's most closely tied to the Chouteau family, the fur traders and founders who helped shape St. Louis in its early years, and the name still turns up on streets, buildings and businesses around the region. For someone who grew up in St. Louis, or who has a connection to the area, a Chouteau shirt or mug is a quiet nod to home. It's the kind of gift that works best when it's personal: the place they're from, the year they moved away, or the neighborhood where they first learned to ride a bike. Because the word is a bit less familiar to most people, a short second line can do a lot of work. Add the city, the neighborhood or the year, and the design starts to feel like it was made for that one person.
