About this ceylon gift
Ceylon is the old name for Sri Lanka, and people who use it tend to mean it. It's the name on the tea tin, the name in the family stories about grandparents who left the island, and the name that sounds a little more personal than the official one. A Ceylon shirt or mug is a way of saying where you come from without having to explain the history first. It also suits anyone who loves the island's tea, its spices or its food, which carry the name in a lot of kitchens and shops. If the recipient is Sri Lankan or of Sri Lankan descent, a shirt with Ceylon on it can be a quiet nod to a place that's still home to them. For someone who just loves the tea, a mug with the word on it fits the morning routine. Add a year or a city from the family's past in the second line to make it theirs.
