About this functional supervisor gift
A functional supervisor usually sits between the people doing the work and the people setting the priorities, which makes their days a steady run of scheduling, checking in, smoothing over conflicts and carrying the blame when something slips. They tend to be the one who knows where everything is, who's out sick, and which deadline is quietly getting closer. The gifts that land are the ones that acknowledge that middle position without being solemn about it. A hoodie for the cold early-morning check-in, a mug for the coffee that gets reheated three times, or a tee for the casual Friday they've earned. Put their title on it, or the team or department they lead, and the design stops being a generic office shirt and becomes theirs. If you're buying for a whole group, one design with each supervisor's name in the Team Shop is a far better way to say thanks than a card passed around the floor.
