About this ilion gift
Ilion is a village in Herkimer County in upstate New York, and the people who grew up there tend to hold onto it. A shirt or mug with Ilion on it reads as a small place where everybody knows the next street over, the kind of hometown pride that comes out at reunions, holiday visits and the first summer back. Many people from a town this size end up living somewhere else, so a piece of Ilion gear is often a way to stay connected to where they started. Because the design is just the town name, it works well with a second line of your own: a class year, a street, a family name. For the person who has moved away, a mug on the kitchen counter does the job of a postcard every morning.
