About this barnacle gift
A barnacle is a small crustacean that glues itself to rocks, pilings, boat hulls and even whales, then spends its adult life in one spot with its legs sweeping food out of the water. Most people only know them as the crusty stuff they scrape off the bottom of a boat, which makes a barnacle shirt a good fit for someone who loves the sea, tide pools or the old boat they keep fixing up. The best gifts for a barnacle fan lean into that stubborn, hard-to-shake personality, the friend who never lets go of an idea or a grudge. Add a second line with a nickname, a boat name or the lake or harbor they fish, and the design stops being a joke about shellfish and starts being theirs. A barnacle mug suits the kitchen table where they plan their next trip out, and a hoodie works for the cold early mornings on the dock.
