About this stumptown gift
Stumptown is a nickname that Portland, Oregon has carried for a long time, a nod to the stumps left behind when the city's forests were cleared. People who grew up there, or who spent years in its coffee shops, bike lanes and rain, tend to hold the name close. A Stumptown shirt is how they claim the city in a way that feels a little more personal than just saying Portland. Good gifts for someone like this are the ones that sound like a local wrote them: a tee for weekend errands, a hoodie for the damp evenings, a mug for the first cup of the day. Add a neighborhood, a school, or the year they moved in, and the design starts to tell their story instead of the city's. For someone who has left, a Stumptown mug is a small way of saying you remember where they're from.
