About this art director gift
An art director sits between the idea and the finished work. They're in the room when the pitch goes out, they're the one changing the layout at eleven at night, and they have strong opinions about kerning that most people never notice. A shirt or mug with their title on it tells them someone understands that the job is more than making things look pretty. Art directors often work in studios, agencies or in-house design teams, and they tend to live in black tees, sweatshirts and whatever gets them through a long review. A dark tee with art director in clean type suits that, and a hoodie suits the cold studio. An 11 oz mug is the everyday one, the coffee that keeps them going through a deadline. For a creative who thinks about every detail, the title itself is the detail that counts, so pick the design that sets it in type they'd choose themselves.
