About this sous chef gift
A sous chef is the person who keeps the kitchen running when the executive chef is on the pass or out front. They're usually the first in and the last out, managing the line, the prep lists and the inventory while everyone else is still waking up. A gift that lands with them is something practical for the long hours: a hoodie for the walk-in and the cold dish pit, a tee that feels good under a jacket after service, a mug for the first coffee before the lunch rush. The shirts and mugs that make them smile tend to have their title on them, since it's the role they worked up to. You can add the restaurant or station they run, pastry, grill or garde manger, on a second line, which turns a generic chef shirt into something only they would wear. If they're just starting out, a line with the year they got the promotion marks the moment as well.
