About this telephone switchboard operator gift
Telephone switchboard operators are a rare breed now, and most of the people who still hold the job have been doing it for decades. Many worked the old plug-and-cord boards before automated systems took over, and they carry that history with them: the quick hands, the patience with callers who don't know what they want, and the pride in connecting people who really needed to reach each other. A gift for someone in this line of work lands best when it recognizes that story. A tee or hoodie with their exact job title tells them you noticed what they do, not just that they have a job. An 11 oz mug fits the long shifts and the coffee that gets cold while they're busy routing calls. If you're buying for a retiree who spent a career at the board, a mug or tee with the title and their years of service can mean more than a generic office gift. Add their name or the company they worked for on the second line to make it theirs.
