About this application architect gift
Application architects work at the seam between business needs and the software that has to meet them. They map how systems talk to each other, decide how new features fit into old platforms, and spend a lot of time in meetings explaining why the clean design takes longer than the quick hack. The gifts that land for them tend to be the ones that acknowledge that mix of big-picture thinking and detailed drawing. A tee with their title on the front gives them something to wear on the days they're presenting a target architecture to a room full of skeptical stakeholders. A hoodie suits the long sessions spent whiteboarding integration flows, and a mug with their name on it marks the spot where they park themselves every morning before the first design review. To make it theirs, add their name in the second line, or a team or product area they've been working on. That small detail turns a job title into something personal, and it's the kind of thing coworkers will notice and comment on.
