About this ipu gift
An ipu is a hollow gourd drum, traditionally played in Hawaiian hula and chant, and it's usually held in the hand and tapped or struck against the palm or knee. The person who'd receive this gift might be a hula dancer or musician, a kumu hula's student, a family member who keeps the rhythm at gatherings, or someone who simply loves Hawaiian music. What makes a gift for them land is recognizing that the ipu is part of practice and performance, not just decoration. A shirt or hoodie they can wear to class or a performance says you noticed. Ipu designs come on light and dark tees, kids tees, hoodies and an 11 oz mug, so you can match the gift to the setting. You can type a second line for a name, a hālau, or a year to make it theirs.
