About this anacortes gift
Anacortes is a small city on Fidalgo Island in northwest Washington, a ferry ride or bridge crossing away from the San Juan Islands. People who live there tend to be proud of the harbor, the fishing boats and the slow pace, and plenty of them have moved back after years somewhere busier. A shirt or mug with the city name is a way to say that you know where they're from and that you're glad they're home. For someone who grew up there and left, a tee with the town on it works as a homesick reminder. For someone who just moved in, it's a welcome-to-the-island gift they'll actually use. Add a second line for the street they live on, the year they arrived or the high school class they came out of, and the design stops being generic. Hoodies suit the cooler months, when the wind comes off the water, and kids' shirts or baby onesies work well for the next generation of islanders.
