About this beaufort gift
Beaufort is a small place with a big sense of itself, a historic town on the water where people talk about the marsh, the oysters and the way the light comes off the river in the evening. Many of the people who live there have roots that go back generations, and many others are transplants who fell for the slower pace and never went back. A Beaufort shirt works for both. For the lifelong local it's a quiet point of pride, the kind of thing worn to the farmers market or on a weekend walk downtown. For the one who moved away, it's a reminder of the porches and the water and the friends they still text about. Because the word is short and familiar, a gift works best when you make it specific: add a street, a year they moved there, or the name of the boat they can't stop talking about. Then it stops being a souvenir and starts being theirs.
