About this block island gift
Block Island is a small island about thirteen miles off the coast of Rhode Island, reached by ferry from Point Judith or New London, and it has the quiet, weathered feel of a place that doesn't need to be busy to be loved. People who grew up summering there, or who spent a week biking the dirt roads and watching the wind turbines turn offshore, tend to hold onto it. A Block Island shirt is how they carry the island with them through the rest of the year. Wear it to the beach, to the ferry dock, or anywhere someone asks where you got it. For the islander who left for a city job, a mug with the island name on it is a small daily reminder of the salt air and the slower pace. A hoodie suits the cool evenings that come even in summer, when the fog rolls in and everyone pulls on whatever sweatshirt they brought along.
