About this calcasieu gift
Calcasieu is a parish in southwest Louisiana, and the people who call it home tend to hold on to it hard. Whether they live in Lake Charles, Sulphur or a small town out past the rice fields, a Calcasieu shirt is a way of saying where they're from without a long explanation. It works for the person who never left, the one who came back after years away, and the college student whose first real hometown was somewhere else entirely. Calcasieu is a name people from outside the area often get wrong or have never heard, so a shirt that carries it becomes a small conversation starter. The best versions add the town they're really from on a second line, so the gift says exactly where their people are. A mug suits the grandparent who keeps the local paper in the kitchen. A hoodie suits the one heading into a Louisiana winter that turns out milder than they expected.
