About this el sobrante gift
El Sobrante is an unincorporated community in Contra Costa County, in the East Bay of Northern California, and the people who call it home tend to be proud of a place that doesn't always get its own name on the map. A shirt that says El Sobrante is how someone shows that they're from here, whether they still live there, moved to a nearby town, or left for another state and miss the hills and the familiar streets. For a family member or friend who's far away, a mug or hoodie with the community name is a steady reminder of where they started. Since the name is a bit unusual, it works as a conversation starter: people will ask about it, and the person wearing it gets to tell them. Many designs have a second line, so you can add a street, a school, a graduation year or the year they moved away, which turns a simple place name into something that belongs to one person.
