About this kensal gift
Kensal is a place name in northwest London, and not a city most shoppers will have heard of. Whoever this gift is for probably has a story about it: a flat they rented, a street they walk every day, a corner shop where everyone knows their order. A Kensal shirt or hoodie is a way to say where they're from or where they've made a home, and it gives them something to wear on the way to the same bus stop they always use. Because the word is more specific than most city names, it works best when you add something only they would recognize, such as a street name, the year they moved in or a line from their own story. Plenty of Londoners and former Londoners collect place names like this, so a mug or tee that's personal to one neighborhood tends to get used far more than a generic city souvenir.
