About this papaikou gift
Papaikou is a small community on the Big Island of Hawaii, in the Hamakua district north of Hilo, and a place like that tends to be home in a very particular way. People who grew up there, or who spent years in the area, often feel the pull of the place long after they've moved away. A shirt with the name on it is a quiet way to say where they're from when a coworker asks, or to carry a little of the island into a cold-weather winter. Because Papaikou is a small place, most of the designs will be about the name itself, so the detail that will make it theirs is the second line: a year they lived there, a school they attended, a family name, or a street. A hoodie suits a long-distance move or a return home, and a mug fits the morning routine of someone who misses the island. Keep the gift simple and personal, and let the name do the talking.
