About this washougal gift
Washougal is a small city in Clark County, Washington, on the Columbia River just east of Vancouver. People who grew up there, or who came back after a stretch away, tend to carry the name with a bit of pride and a bit of joking. A Washougal shirt is how they claim the town at the Fourth of July parade, the high school football game, or the family reunion where somebody always asks where you're from. Because the name is unusual, the shirt does most of the talking on its own. Add the year they moved there, their high school class, or the street they grew up on in the second line, and it becomes their story rather than a souvenir. A hoodie suits the cold river mornings, and a mug suits the person who misses home from a city apartment.
