About this du quoin gift
Du Quoin is a small city in southern Illinois, and people who grew up there tend to stay attached to it, whether they still live down the road or have moved to Chicago or beyond. A shirt or mug with the town name is a quiet way of saying where someone is from, the kind of gift that gets worn to the county fair, a homecoming, or a family visit. Because the name is a bit unusual outside the region, a Du Quoin shirt often sparks a conversation, and that is part of the fun for the person wearing it. For someone who has moved away, it works as a small piece of home on a cold morning. You can make it theirs by adding a second line for a high school class year, a street, or a family name, so the design reflects their own connection to the town rather than just the town itself.
