About this bander gift
A bander is someone who puts bands on birds, usually as part of a research or monitoring team. Most of the work happens before dawn, in mist nets, in cold weather or muddy field sites, with a clipboard, a tiny set of pliers and a lot of patience. They know the difference between an ageing scheme and a sexing scheme, and they'll happily explain it to anyone who asks. A gift that acknowledges that work tends to land well. A tee or hoodie with the word bander on it is an easy pick for the early-morning crew, and a mug suits the field station or the office where the data gets entered. Add a station name, a state or a banding permit number on the second line if you want it to feel specific to them. Field gear gets lost and worn out fast, so a bander usually appreciates something practical they can wear on the next survey.
All bander gifts →- A tee for the field seasonA bander who spends summer in the nets will wear a light tee on every survey. Add the station or project name on the second line.
- A dark hoodie for cold morningsBanding starts at sunrise, and mist nets are cold in spring and fall. A dark hoodie with their title is practical and personal.
- A mug for the lab or stationAn 11 oz mug with bander on it makes a good daily reminder of the work, and it's hard to misplace in a shared kitchen.
- A kids tee for a young birderIf the bander is a parent who brings their kid on counts, a matching kids tee makes the family a field team.
