About this ekalaka gift
Ekalaka is a small town in southeastern Montana, the seat of Carter County, and most of the people who call it home know each other by sight. A shirt or mug with the town name is a way to claim a place that doesn't show up on many maps, whether that's someone who grew up there, a rancher who still drives in for supplies, or a former resident who moved away and misses the wide open country. Because the town is small and the name is distinctive, a design that says Ekalaka reads as a real local pride piece rather than a generic souvenir. Add a second line with the year they were born there, the high school class they graduated with, or the road they live on, and it becomes something only the people who know the place will fully get. For the transplant, a mug on the kitchen counter is a quiet reminder of where they're from.
