About this hooper bay gift
Hooper Bay is a small Yup'ik community on the Bering Sea coast of western Alaska, and people who grew up there or belong to it carry that place with them wherever they go. A shirt with the village name is how they claim it: for a visit home, for the flight back to Anchorage, or just to mark where they're from in a city full of strangers. Because the village is small, the people who know it tend to know each other, so a Hooper Bay design is often the kind of thing that gets noticed and remarked on. The name plus a second line for a family, a class year or a simple date makes it theirs. Most designs here come in tees, hoodies and mugs, and the mug suits the person who misses the coast and wants a daily reminder of the place.
