About this prep cook gift
A prep cook starts before the dining room opens, dicing onions, portioning proteins and setting up stations while everyone else is still asleep. It's physical work done on tile floors, often in heat, and the people who do it well rarely get thanked. A gift that acknowledges the early start and the hours on their feet tends to land better than something generic about food. A soft tee for the drive in, a hoodie for the walk-in cooler, or a mug for the first coffee before the morning prep list hits, all of these say you noticed what their job actually involves. Add prep cook as the main line, and a second line for their station, their restaurant's shift or their own name, and it becomes personal to them. Kitchen work is also a career that people build over years, so a gift marking a first real kitchen job or a promotion to line cook can mean a lot.
