About this roseland gift
Roseland is a neighborhood on Chicago's Far South Side, and people who grew up there tend to carry it with them wherever they go. A shirt with Roseland on it is how a former resident shows where they're from, whether they still live a few blocks away or moved across the country decades ago. Neighborhood pride is a personal thing, so the strongest gifts are the ones that feel like they belong to one person. Add a street, a school year, or the years they lived there in the second line and the shirt stops being a souvenir and becomes a story. A hoodie suits the Chicago winters that most Roseland people know well, and a mug works for the transplant who misses home each morning. Anyone who has lived in one neighborhood for a long time will recognize a gift that shows you paid attention to where they came from.
