About this west virginia gift
West Virginia people carry the state with them in a way that's hard to explain to outsiders. Mountains that shape every road, creeks that set the rhythm of a town, Friday night football and the pride that comes with it, and a long memory for family history that runs through every county. A shirt or mug with West Virginia on it is how someone who grew up there, or who married into it, says where their heart is. It also works for the transplant who now lives in Ohio or Florida and misses the hills every single season. Add a county name or a hometown on the second line and the gift stops being a generic state souvenir and becomes about their particular corner of the state. For the person who loves the outdoors, a hoodie is ideal for chilly fall hikes and ridge-line sunrises. For someone who is always up before dawn, a mug with their state on it turns the first cup of coffee into a small daily reminder of home.
