About this able seaman gift
An able seaman is the experienced hand on deck, the one who stands watch, steers, handles lines and keeps the vessel in working order while everyone else sleeps or eats. It's physical, skilled work, often away from home for weeks or months, and it rarely gets the recognition it earns. So a gift that simply says what they do goes a long way. A tee for time ashore, a hoodie for cold watches on deck, a mug that survives rough water and stays in the mess. Put their name or the ship's name on the second line, or add the year they earned their rating, and it stops being a generic sailor shirt. Think about when they'll actually use it: the first week back home, a family barbecue, a long flight to join the next vessel. If they've just made able seaman, that's a milestone worth marking, and so is a retirement after a long career at sea.
All able seaman gifts →- A tee for shore leavePrint Able Seaman with their name underneath. It's an easy one to wear the day they walk off the gangway.
- A hoodie for the cold watchPick a hoodie in a dark color and add the year they earned their rating. It earns its keep on deck at night and on the dock at dawn.
- A mug for the galleyAn 11 oz mug with their name keeps it from wandering off in the mess. A good fit for the one who's always first up for the morning watch.
- A baby onesie from the family at homeIf there's a new baby while they're away, a onesie that says the father or mother is an able seaman gives them something to come home to.
